Lucedale, Mississippi, nicknamed the city where “people and progress meet,” is in George County, is its county seat, and its only municipality. George County is mostly a mostly rural, bedroom county for the larger metropolitan areas of Mobile, Alabama and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Over 20,000 acres of the state-owned Pascagoula River Wildlife Management Area are located in George County, and residents of Lucedale enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and nature-watching as well as sports like boating, swimming, and canoeing. It’s a rugged paradise, and the rugged, wrought iron doors at Jemison Window and Glass add the same air of opulence to your front entry way.
Whether you imagine the entry way to your home being bathed in decorative wrought iron, iron doors with glass, or iron and wood, like a rich mahogany, Jemison Window and Door can make your dreams come true. Our designs are classic and stunning, and because wrought iron doors are so durable, they’ll last for years and years to come, aging like fine wine.
If Lucedale is where “people and progress meet,” the Saraland, Alabama is its “gateway.” Saraland was settled in 1807 by pioneer families with names like Alvarez, Rice, Hartley, Moore, LaCoste, Williams, Tool, and Cleveland. Ultimately, the then-named Alvarez Station was called Cleveland Station, and then renamed Saraland by C.J. DeWitt after his wife, Sara. DeWitt opened the first post office there on the Southern Railroad in 1895 – and the “gateway to progress” was founded. Today experiencing rapid development due to its proximity to Mobile, it has become a suburb for the metropolitan area.
Made almost entirely of quartz grains washed down from the Appalachian Mountains thousands of years ago, the white-sand beaches that make up Gulf Shores and Orange Beach shorelines are some of the finest in the world. There are 32 miles of shore on the southern border of Alabama, on the Gulf of Mexico. The area is a family vacation resort area, featuring zip lines, golf, and water sports.
Mount Vernon has deep roots in Alabama’s history, springing to life to support two military installations, Fort Stoddert and Mount Vernon Arsenal. Founded on orders from President Jefferson, Fort Stoddert was built in 1799 to protect settlers from Native Americans and Spain, forming the southern boundary of the United States. Today, Mount Vernon is a tranquil rural community on the outskirts of Mobile.
